My friends first visit to my new home
My two friends will be arriving in three days, for their first visit to this area of the country. I had lived in Connecticut for 20 years and we moved in 2002 through necessity to Cincinnati, Ohio, Newport, Kentucky, and Winchester, Virginia. Unfortunately, in 2006, my husband Jim passed away. My sister in Wheatfield, New York asked me to move back to the Western New York area to be closer to family and friends. My son, Darren, still lives in Derby, Connecticut. The Buffalo metro area is definitely a more economical place to live.I decided after being out of the area more than 25 years, to move back to Wheatfield, New York. It is always very hard to leave other family and friends. So, when my friend Maureen said she and her sister would like to come here from Danbury, Connecticut for a five-day visit, I was very happy. There are so many things we can do while they are here: Niagara Falls is first on the list. Both the American and Canadian views of the falls is beautiful and offer a different perspective to each individual. The Maid of the Mist is a boat ride that goes right to the falls from below, so be prepared to get wet, even with rain slickers. We also plan to go to the Buffalo Zoological Gardens, which is right in the heart of the city, with the lovely Delaware Park next to it. We will also be celebrating my friends birthday on Monday, with plans to go to the famous Muscoreils bakery and restaurant. They have the most sensational fine desserts, gourmet cakes and Bistro.
